Renee Bharath-Kim

Renee Bharath

Born in Trinidad, West Indies, Renee was raised in Brooklyn, New York where she began her dance training at the age of three at the Dance Theatre of Harlem School. Through her continuous education at The DTH School, and following her high school graduation in 2001, she was thrilled to join the Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble. Through her work with the DTB Ensemble, Ms. Bharath has performed in the Bermuda Festival in 2004 and the Kennedy Center for the Protégé Festival in 2006. Most notably, she was honored to dance the DTH staple ballet The Greatest, choreographed by Arthur Mitchell at the White House in 2006. Renee is ecstatic to welcome another year of success with the Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble and continue to contribute to the legacy of Dance Theatre of Harlem.

Fredrick Davis

Fredrick Davis' talent for dance was discovered at age 11, 1998, through Ballet Tennessee and The Department of Chattanooga Parks and Recreation Dance Alive Program. He was awarded a full Talent Identification Program (TIP) scholarship to train at VanCura Ballet Conservatory. He auditioned and was accepted into Ballet Tennessee where he charmed local audiences over the years in many different roles. Upon graduation from Center for Creative Arts and with the distinction of most talented student three years running, he went to New York on a full Joffrey Ballet School scholarship. His grandmother, Evie Dill, his parents, Pilgrim Congregational Church, Ballet Tennessee, and many other community members have assisted Fredrick in making his dream come true. He has performed several lead roles in conjunction with Joffrey Ballet School in New York City and as a guest artist in Wisconsin and Alaska. He received mention in the New York Times for his role in John Magnus' Nutcracker. He received full scholarships for study at Boston Ballet Summer Dance Program, ABT Summer Program and North Carolina Dance Theater. Fredrick has returned to Ballet Tennessee to dance the lead roles in Cinderella, Les Slyphides, and Sleeping Beauty.

DaVon Doane

DaVon Doane was born in Salisbury Maryland. He began his dance training at the age of nine at the Salisbury Studio of Dance in Fruitland Maryland. There he performed with the Eastern Shore Ballet Theater under the Direction of Betty Webster, Tatijana Smith and Elena Manakhova where he performed roles in the Nutcracker, Coppelia, Sheherazade, The Polovetzian Dances, Snow White and Peter and the wolf.   In the summer of 2004 he attended the Kirov academy in D.C.  Also in the fall of 2004 he attended the Atlantic Contemporary Ballet Theater as a full time academic and artistic student. In 2006 he joined the Atlantic City ballet and performed roles in the Nutcracker, A Midsummer Nights Dream, Eclipse, and  Tchaikovsky pas de deux.

Flavia Garcia

Flavia Garcia was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She trained and graduated from The National Ballet of Cuba. She participated in The International Ballet Competition at Jackson and Varna. She's danced with Cia Brasileira de Dancas, Joffrey Ballet 2, LazarBallet NYC and Participated in Gala of The Stars in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Her repertoire includes Kitri in Don Quiote, Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, Medora in Le Corsaire and Myrtha in Giselle, plus works by Elie Lazar and Igal Perry to name a few of many. She has danced with the Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble since 2006.

Jehbreal Muhammad Jackson

Jehbreal Muhammad Jackson began his formal training in ballet at ten years old, being placed accidentally into the wrong classroom by an after school program advisor. He found his heart in classical and contemporary dance and continued to study at the Dallas Black Dance Academy, W. E. Greiner Middle School of the Exploratory and Performing Arts, and at the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
Jehbreal is a graduate of The Juilliard School in New York, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes, where he performed the works of Alexander Ekman, Stijn Celis, Mark Morris, Jerome Robbins, William Forsythe and Ohad Naharin. Recently, Jehbreal performed as a guest with Ballet Noir NYC sharing the stage with performers from American Ballet Theater, and the Polish National Ballet for their Chopin Festival. In October 2010 he performed with New York based dance company Kegwin& Co. at the annual "Fall For Dance" festival at the New York City Center Theater. He has also been a featured vocalist with various jazz bands at The Juilliard School, including a tour to Brazil with the band as a featured vocalist.

Alexandra Jacob

Alexandra Jacob was born in Oakland, California and began her first formal ballet training at the age of eight at Berkeley City Ballet. In addition to her training at Berkeley City Ballet, Alexandra attended summer programs at the Dance Theatre of Harlem and Alonzo King Lines Ballet on scholarships. Alexandra briefly attended the California College of Arts for three years for an architecture degree before returning to her passion for ballet. Upon returning to New York City in fall 2004, Alexandra attended the Joffrey Ballet School, until her return to the Dance Theatre of Harlem in January 2005. Alexandra currently dances in the Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble. 

David Tai Kim

David Tai Kim hails from Southern California. He trained with Paula Vreulink at the Southern California Dance Academy and later with El Gabriel at the University of California Irvine. He credits Arthur Mitchell, the Dance Theatre of Harlem School and its teachers for molding him into a professional. He has danced for DTH, The Metropolitan Opera, Ballet Met Columbus and most recently with Ballet West in Salt Lake City. Mr. Kim has danced a variety works by noted choreographers such as George Balanchine, Robert Garland, David Nixon, Bruce Marks, Nicolo Fonte and Stanton Welch. David's professional career has brought him full circle back to DTH and he looks forward to a fantastic season of growth and excellence and once again dancing with his fiance Ms. Renee Bharath.  

Ashley N. Murphy

Murphy, 23, was born in Shreveport, LA, where she began her dance training at age 3. After graduating with honors in 2002, she attended the Dance Theatre of Harlem Summer Intensive Program where she auditioned for the Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble and was accepted. After training for a year with the Ensemble, Ashley was asked to be an apprentice in the Dance Theatre of Harlem Company. This allowed her to tour to places such as London, England; Glasgow,Scotland; and Athens, Greece among many others. When the Dance Theatre of Harlem Company went on hiatus in 2004, Ashley decided to continue her dance training with the Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble where she has been dancing since.  

Lourdes Rodriguez

Lourdes Rodriguez was born in Havana, Cuba. At the age of nine moved to Miami, Florida where she trained at the Miami Conservatory with Ruth Wiesen, Mariana Alvarez, Dominique Angel from the Joffrey Ballet, Maite Diz from the National Ballet of Cuba, and Arnold Quintane from the Paris Opera. Following graduation from Dr. Michael Krop Senior High, Lourdes attended New World School of the Arts College where she trained in Ballet, Horton, Graham, and Limon techniques. She has also studied at the North Carolina Dance Theatre under the direction of Jean- Pierre Bonnefoux and Patricia McBride and performed in George Balanchine’s “Raymonda Variations”, “Serenade”, and “Nutcracker”, as well as Mark Diamonds’s “Scherzo and “City South”.

Anthony Javier Savoy

Born in Annapolis, Maryland. He began his formal training at the age of 15, studying at various schools in and around Maryland. In 2004 he was accepted on full scholarship to train at Abigail Francisco’s School of Classical Ballet in North Beach, Maryland. In 2006, Mr. Savoy was awarded Maryland All State Dancer, by Congressional House Representative of Maryland. Mr. Savoy continued his studies at Point Park University, with a concentration in Ballet. Spring of 2008, Savoy left Point Park University to attend Anne Arundel Community College. Towards a Bachelors in Fine Arts, Minor in Biology and Associates in Psychology. He has attended Summer Intensive’s at Earl Mosley Institute of the Arts, Point Park University, The Kirov Academy, American Ballet Theatre and Dance Theatre of Harlem. Mr. Savoy has performed works by Brian Reeder, Melissa Barack, Ferdinand DeJesus, and Robert Garland among others. With determination and the support of his; loving and dedicated parents, family, church family and faith in God.  He has accomplished yet another dream. This is his first season with the Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble.

Ingrid Silva

Ingrid Silva

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Ms. Silva began her formal ballet training at the age of eight at Dançando para não Dançar, the Deborah Colker school and Escola de danca Maria Olenewa. She has also apprenticed with Company Grupo Corpo in Brazil. After entering the Univercidade da Cidade College, she decided to follow her passion and traveled to New York in 2007. That summer, she attended the Dance Theatre of Harlem Summer Intensive Program, and afterwards joined the Dance Theatre of Harlem Professional Training Program. She has been a member of the Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble since 2008. Ms. Silva has also performed with Armitage Gone! Dance performing  "Gaga Gaku" at the Joyce Theatre in 2011. 

Mayuko Shoka

Mayuko Shoka was born in Gifu Japan in 1986. She began to study ballet at the Ballet Studio K&M in Japan at the age of 7. While there, she performed in various ballets such as Cinderella, Nutcracker, Oliver Twist, and Swan Lake. To continue her studies she went on to The Arts Educational School in England at the age of 17. While there she had the chance to explore other art forms such as Contemporary, Tap, Modern, and Jazz as well as enhance her ballet training. At the age of 18 she was accepted into The Joffrey Ballet School in NY. While there she performed Arabian (Nutcracker),and Lilac Fairy (Sleeping Beauty). In 2005, at the age of 20, Mayuko was accepted into the Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble.

Danielle ThomasDanielle Thomas

Danielle Thomas began her dance training at the Dance Theatre of Harlem at the age of four.  After graduating from Mother Cabrini High School, Danielle was asked to become a member of the Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble. One year later, she joined the Dance Theatre of Harlem Company.  While the Company remains on hiatus, Danielle continues her professional dance career with the Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble. 

Stephanie Williams

Born in Utah, and raised in Texas, Stephanie received her early training at Dallas Dance Academy and with Fiona Fairrie. Stephanie made her professional debut with Ben Stevenson’s Texas Ballet Theatre in 2006-07, and she most recently danced as a company member with the Francesca Harper Project in 2009-10, and Ballet Black in 2008. Ms. Williams was an Apprentice with Complexions in 2009, and has also studied during summers at The Juilliard School, Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet, and Houston Ballet Academy. Stephanie was a Fellowship recipient at The Ailey School, a 2006 National Foundation for the Arts Award winner, a 2006 Youth America Grand Prix Finalist, and a 2004 Texas Commission on the Arts Young Master. Stephanie is thrilled to be joining Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble for the 2010 – 2011 season!


Samuel Wilson

Samuel Wilson was born in Bremerton, WA in 1985, where he started dancing ballet at the age of 15 with the Peninsula Dance Theatre. Since then Samuel danced in summer dance programs such as Summer Dance Lab in Walla Walla, WA and American Ballet Theatre in Austin, TX. It was not until 2003, when Samuel came to Dance Theatre of Harlem, that he started his professional career and joined the Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble.
