Students receive 24/7 chaperones, all meals, transportation, and evening/weekend activities. Complete housing information and reservation instructions will be available soon.
Dance Theatre of Harlem School’s Summer Intensives provide a challenging exploration of classical ballet in a diverse and nurturing environment. Students are steeped in all aspects of classical ballet training and preparation, and take supplemental classes in Contemporary, Modern, West African, Hip Hop, Choreography and Dance History. Workshops, master classes and field trips to select performances in NYC round off these robust intensives, which conclude with student performances for family and friends. The central focus of Summer 2017 is the 25th anniversary of Dance Theatre of Harlem’s historic tour as the first cultural institution to perform in post-apartheid South Africa. Students will learn the history and repertoire from this ground-breaking tour. Former company members and masters in the field will serve as “Masters and Mentors” for summer students who join us from across the U.S. and around the world.
