AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum three (3) years classical ballet training
• Males & Females ages 8-24
• Arrive 30 minutes prior to audition
• Pointe shoes required for intermediate and advanced levels
• Intermediate & advanced levels, bring resume and full-body shot
• Placement results are mailed within three weeks of auditions

Auditioning by DVD\ Video
Dear Prospective Student:
Please read the requirements below for auditioning by videotape or DVD.
THE AUDITION VIDEOTAPE or DVD:
LENGTH:
The tape or DVD must be no longer than fifteen (15) minutes. Please do not send more than this.
ATTIRE:
Females: A simple Leotard with flesh tone, pink or white tights – no black tights please.
Males: Black tights with a fitted white T-shirt or leotard.
NO SWEATS, LEG WARMERS OR SKIRTS PLEASE!
FORMAT:
The tape or DVD should display your typical ballet class exercises.
Include barre work, (plies, battement tendu, grand battement, adagio); some center work, (adagio, pirouettes, petit allegro & grand allegro en diagonale, or a classical or neo-classical variation). Barre exercises should be only on one side. The same for center work.
Women should include Pointe work and men should include grand pirouettes, batterie and tour en l’air if auditioning for Intermediate or Advanced Levels.
All material should be commensurate with your level. You want to look your best, and we want you to as well.
You are encouraged to also include representation of other techniques and\or styles of dance.

Beginners 1&2: $ 770.00
Intermediate 1&2: $ 915.00
Intermediate 3: $1,120.00

SCHOLARSHIPS
•There are a limited number of Housing Scholarships for the 2010 Summer Intensive.
•There are a limited number of full and partial tuition Scholarships.

Residence Fee: $ 3,075.00
Meal Allowance @ $20 per day: $840.00

HOUSING amenities
•Supervised accommodations available for students ages 13-17 w/ 24 hour security
•Extra curricular activities for evenings and weekends are planned by DTHS and Chaperones
•Limited unsupervised housing available for students 18 years and older
•Room accommodations will be limited to 4-5 students maximum
•DTH will have a dedicated private wing of the facility for exclusive use by our students
•Private Lounge/Living room area and Kitchen
•Dedicated bathrooms and showers on each floor of the wing
•Close proximity to clothing, food, transportation and pharmacy
DTH will offer a limited number of Housing Scholarships for the 2010 Summer Intensive.
The Dance Theatre of Harlem School is accredited by the NASD, (National Association of Schools of Dance), and is listed as an institution of higher education by the U.S. Dept. of Education. The DTHS is authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant students within the Professional Training Program and will assist them with an F-1 Visa. |
