Endalyn Taylor

Endalyn Taylor began her dance training at age 7. She received scholarships to study with the Joffrey Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, and the Dance Theatre of Harlem School whose company she joined in 1984, becoming a principal in 1993. Broadway credits include the revival of Carousel and original Broadway cast member of The Lion King and Aida. Taylor was the Director of the Dance Theatre of Harlem School where she taught, choreographed and staged works for the entire student body and the Professional Training Program. She has conducted master classes, workshops and residencies throughout the United States and abroad. Most recently, Taylor has choreographed works for Collage Dance Collective and performed at festivals and venues in New York, Madison, WI and Pittsburgh, PA. As a spokesperson for Black Ballerinas, Taylor has presented lectures at Coventry University in England, participated on panels, organized symposiums, and served as keynote speaker. She is featured in the 2018, Emmy winning special, Illinois Artists – Endalyn Taylor, a documentary short chronicling her storied career, community engagement and current research. Taylor will begin her post as the Dean’s Fellow for Black Arts Research at the University of Illinois, Summer, 2020.
