Luz Iturbe

LUZ ITURBE is an Afro-Latina dance educator and performer from Puerto Rico. She began her training at Escuela de Bellas Artes de Carolina, Ballets San Juan, and Balleteatro Nacional de Puerto Rico, and furthered her studies at the Dance Theatre of Harlem’s Professional Training Program. Her career spans classical, contemporary, and commercial work across Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Panama, and the United States. 

Luz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and an Entrepreneurship certificate from the University of Puerto Rico, and a Master’s degree in Dance Education from Towson University. She is trained in Cuban Ballet Methodology and is an ABT® Certified Teacher for Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. She has taught at respected schools in New York, Maryland, and Washington, DC, gaining valuable experience working with diverse student populations and supporting their technical and artistic growth. 

Her teaching philosophy centers on inclusive, culturally relevant dance education that fosters diversity and a supportive environment. A published writer and presenter, Luz, advocates for diversity and accessibility in ballet, ensuring dance remains a transformative art for all communities.
